Why I use color:
"I use color because of the way it makes me feel. In some rooms I want to feel relaxed, in others I might want some more energy or excitement or even feel hungry. I read once that orange makes one hungry. When
I walk into my house I feel like all the colors are my favorite friends that welcome me back. The colors actually help me feel I'm in my right place. I have no red in my house except for one ribbon. Red isn't a comfortable color for me. Oranges, deep blues and bright greens and turquoise fit me."

Color Tips:
"- Use at least three colors in a room. A principal one and two minor notes. Include metal color - copper, black iron, silver, bronze, brushed steel.
- Consider what you see of other rooms from the room you are designing, as well as what you might see out the windows. I painted a stairwell deep blue but it deadened the green of the trees outside an arched window, so I painted an orange band around the window.
- Always do a test when painting walls ... always."

Color fatigue has really set in. This is a lovely, subtle space, very soothing. Why is this entry being rated so harshly? I've seen so much acid green and orange that my retinas may never recover.
My sentiments exactly. This is a great space and you have a beautiful home. The southwest look isn't necesarily my favorite, but i can imagine being at that table, surrounded by the sunlight, the coral, the trees, turquoise.......you've done a great job.
I agree! This room isn't designed to my taste, but the color story is thoughtfully and consistently played out, with lots of complementary detail.
yes very pretty room; i love the color combo (check out my entry from the West coast...same colors, but opposite!).
I can't believe this one is doing so badly. This is my favorite of all of them. It's a very clever colour palette! Does it have to be Orange walls & Brown sofas to get some votes around here? Think past your Pottery Barn catalogs people!!! I think the colours in this room are fun, go beautifully together and are highly under-rated.
I love this room. It's colorful but soft, warm without being strident, and cozy without being uber-precious.
And, perhaps most shallowly, it isn't featuring any chocolate brown. Thank you.
Outstanding balance of colors and "flow" of patterns. Very warm, yet not "boring" to the degree that many color combos are. Extremely creative. My favorite.
