Bathroom month may be over, but we are always up for sharing reader projects! Julia was kind enough to send us pics of her recent guest bathroom renovation. She explains, "We did all the work ourselves with the help of a plumber when it came to well, plumbing. We used a very economical slate on 2 walls and the floor and tiled in a brick pattern. The walls are a gloss mushroom and the ceiling a gloss latte color. Everything else is white, dark wood and mix of metals... (continued after the jump)"
"We lucked out with this stand alone custom tub purchased on ebay for $800 and picked up from the artist 5 miles away! The sink is Starck for Duravit, and the toilet also duravit. the light above the west elm medicine cabinet is a classic tolomeo from artmide. The entire gut job ran us less then $5000. The room is quite small 6ftx 8ft. I love being in this room and have claimed it as my own, except when guests are in town. Our on-suite bathroom is the last room to do in the house and is authentic 1965- and not the good version, so I try to avoid spending any time in there."
See the rest of the pics here at her flickr page.

THAT TUB!

I know that bathroom month is over but I'm moving and Ithe apartment I found is lovely except for the bathroom. It's an older apartment so it has a lot of cool old-school details throughout. However, the bathroom has a separate shower and tub. The main problem is the shower, sink, drawers, etc. are all against the wall while the tub is almost in the center of the room. I was thinking about hanging a curtain or putting up a screen to hide the tub but then that would take away use of almost half of the bathroom. Does anyone with this bathroom layout have any design advice (pictures would also be terrific).

Thanks everyone for the comments. The tub is by a guy who runs the site boomerdesign.com (i can't remember his name) He was selling it on ebay because it didn't work in one of him commissioned interiors. He salvaged an old cast iron tub and braced it on 4x4 steel beams. We had to drill throught the base of one of the crossbeams in order for it to accomodate the drainage mechanism.
If memory serves, the color of the walls are mountain elk by BEHR.
