Bubble Lamp from Germany 's Impressionen

103107_impressionlamp.jpgGuten tag! We spotted this lamp over at Decor8, and had to do more research. A quick call to one of our Berlin friends, and here's the poop: Impressionen is Germany's version of Anthropologie, what with the homewares and the clothes, and everything's available to be ordered. But back to this Bubble Lamp (aka "Tischleuchte"): one flick of the switch, and the cascading glass bubbles light up.

And while we may not be able to get one of these lamps stateside, we do have some alternatives, kind of. CB2's whirly gig votive candleholder might not light up with a switch, but the effect is pretty damn close.

I'm so glad you researched this. I saw this on decor8 as well and spent a half our on the Impressionen web site just trying to find the lamp, and wondering who I might know that could decipher the page and tell me if it was available in the states. Bummer that it's not. I love the lamp - so whimsical.

I miss Germany. And that store and Habitat, and like ten other stores I got completely addicted to while I was living there.

Wondering why I moved back, now.

boon...I'm checking with the company now. I believe they will ship this to the US.......However...having lived in Germany and moved back, I can tell you that the light bulbs used in Germany are a bit different than the ones we use...here's the lowdown;

Place an American bulb in a German Lamp (or an American lamp with a 220 plug adaptor) plug it in in Germany and poof, the bulb will explode.
Place a German bulb in an American lamp (or a German lamp with a 110 plug adaptor), plug it in in the USA, and you'll get light, but don't expect much...it's really really soft.

I'll let you know what they say.
