Many people aspire to have their bedrooms feel like a hotel room. Well now, if you happen to have the right amount of ching$, you can just own one! The W hotel chain have recently launched their W Hollywood Hotel & Residences
website.
You can currently submit your information to "Be the first to knoW. Be the first to oWn." It will be their 5th hotel/residence property, and will be located at Hollywood & Vine, with approximately 300 rooms and 150 condo/residences. If you own one of these condos, you'll have access to the hotels facilities, including room-service, housekeeping, and conceirege services.
And if being in
Hollywood is not enough excitement for you, they have just announced that they are also developing a W hotel & Residences in
Las Vegas too! The W Hollywood is scheduled to open in 2008, and they just broke ground on W Las Vegas, but they are currently taking reservations for the condos.
I guess if you own it, you don't have to worry about stealing the bathrobes...

Personally, I don't think I could actually LIVE at a W Hotel, even if the condo were in a separate residence tower or wing. And if bicoastal business people were to consider these residences as corporate pied-a-terre's, the Hollywood/Vine location isn't ideal for most L.A. industries [Financial organizations located east in downtown; Entertainment (except for Nickolodeon studios) located either west of Hollywood or north into the Valley; and Light industry located south of downtown.] I fear that this is just another sign of the overdevelopment of Hollywood. Really, the only real draws to this area are the ArcLight movie complex, Amoeba records, and the nightclubs along the Cahuenga corridor. I seriously doubt that those would be enough of a draw for hotel patrons, let alone homebuyers. Doesn't the swank, luxury Hollywood & Vine apartment complex still have a significant vacancy rate? Can anyone say "bubble"?

Enrique, actually people do buy these units, the concept is called a condo hotel. Generally people buy for the solid cash flow opportunity that a branded hotel offers in the form of high room rental rates and year-round occupancy. I think W Hollywood will be no exception. W is strong brand and we've seen quite a bit of demand for this hotel in particular. Check out our pre-construction sales page for more info.
